Lexicalization and Grammar Development

چکیده
In this paper we present a fully lexicalized grammar formalism as a particularly attractive framework for the specification of natural language grammars. We discuss in detail Feature-based, Lexicalized Tree Adjoining Grammars (FB-LTAGs), a representative of the class of lexicalized grammars. We illustrate the advantages of lexicalized grammars in various contexts of natural language processing, ranging from wide-coverage grammar development to parsing and machine translation. We also present a method for compact and efficient representation of lexicalized trees. Dependency Grammar Induction with Neural Lexicalization and Big Training Data
We study the impact of big models (in terms of the degree of lexicalization) and big data (in terms of the training corpus size) on dependency grammar induction. We experimented with L-DMV, a lexicalized version of Dependency Model with Valence (Klein and Manning, 2004) and L-NDMV, our lexicalized extension of the Neural Dependency Model with Valence (Jiang et al., 2016). We find that L-DMV onl...
متن کاملCapturing Disjunction In Lexicalization With Extensible Dependency Grammar
In spite of its potential for bidirectionality, Extensible Dependency Grammar (XDG) has so far been used almost exclusively for parsing. This paper represents one of the first steps towards an XDG-based integrated generation architecture by tackling what is arguably the most basic among generation tasks: lexicalization. Herein we present a constraint-based account of disjunction in lexicalizati...

متن کاملMinimally Lexicalized Dependency Parsing
Dependency structures do not have the information of phrase categories in phrase structure grammar. Thus, dependency parsing relies heavily on the lexical information of words. This paper discusses our investigation into the effectiveness of lexicalization in dependency parsing. Specifically, by restricting the degree of lexicalization in the training phase of a parser, we examine the change in...
متن کاملUsing Lexicalized Grammars and Headedness for Approximate Plan Recognition
This paper presents a new algorithm for plan recognition using an action grammar formalism based on Combinatory Catagorial Grammar, that requires a significant shift in thinking about the problem of plan recognition. This approach makes significant use of the concepts of lexicalization and headedness from natural language parsing. It argues that lexicalization of action grammars can help plan r...
متن کاملGraphes paramétrés et outils de lexicalisation
Shifting to a lexicalized grammar reduces the number of parsing errors and improves application results. However, such an operation affects a syntactic parser in all its aspects. One of our research objectives is to design a realistic model for grammar lexicalization. We carried out experiments for which we used a grammar with very simple content and formalism, and a very informative syntactic ...
